SURGICAL ORTHODONTICS

Occasionally jaws are too large, too small, too far forward, too far back, crooked or there is a significant gap between upper and lower teeth

.In such instances, orthognathic surgery is performed on the jaws to achieve the best facial aesthetics and dental function.

Orthodontic treatment in conjunction with orthognathic surgery helps to straighten teeth before surgery and makes surgery simpler and enables a stable result. After your jaw has healed, your orthodontist will once again “fine-tune” your bite.

After surgery, you will continue to wear braces, and most braces are removed within 6 to 12 months following surgery. If you need surgical orthodontics, your Orthodontist will work with an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon to ensure that you receive the best care possible.
